Overview:
In this redesign proposal for the mobile app of Rover.com, I aim to construct a more user friendly experience on the top of the premium content Rover provides. Based on the user testing results, I found that there are several functionalities don’t work very well while the users were confused about how to book a service, follow up with the booking and online communication with the sitters/borders/walkers. Thus, according to my findings from the test, I optimized features and functionalities to provide a better user experience.

Problem Statement
There are 70% of my participants who currently own at least one pet. The pet owners experience difficulties of finding pet sitters when they are away from home thru webs or apps.
Business Overview
5-Star Pet Service Company
Rover.com is a dog lover’s other best friend - second only, of course, to your dog. With exceptional customer support and the nation's largest community of pet sitters and dog walkers, Rover is the easiest way for pet parents to find and book loving and trustworthy neighborhood pet care. In fact, a service is booked on Rover every minute of every day.
Research
1. Revenue reached over $60 billion in 2016
2. There are over 115,000 firms in pet care service
3. About $6 billion spend on boarding and grooming services
4. 41% of dog owners use the Internet to find information on local pet care services, including options for dog day care
5. 40% of the revenues earned from the pet care services industry comes from dog boarding or dog day care services
6. 61% of households keep more than one pet
7. Between 2012-2016, almost $500 million of investments in the global pet tech sector covered 172 venture capital deals, creating new opportunities for the dog day care industry to provide innovative services to pet owners
User Testing
Script
1. Download the app and open it up. Where can you find “Dog Boarding”
2. Now select the option.
3. After inserting the information, what page do you see and what do you need to do next?
4. What is your standard to contact a sitter?
5. Now go back to the main page. Do you know where to find the inbox on the main page?
What I've Learned From This Project:
In this project, I have learned not only to be a better UX designer, but also have expected my improvement on UI design.
What I've learned:
1. I focused more on user experience instead of user interface for this project. However, there is improvement that can be done with the logo design, icon design and branding design too.
2. I can get contacted with more of my previous clients and hear their feedback more about the challenges when they use the app in order to make sure my design goal meet their needs.
3. I should do 2 more times of user testing when the mid-fidelity and high-fidelity is ready, so I can get more direct feedback on UI design and improve the user satisfaction.
